The criteria is that the figure must be published by a reliable or acceptable source and that the album must have sold at least 180,000 units in the country. The Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) is the organization responsible for awarding record certifications in the Philippines.
Both Regine Velasquez and Nina hold the record for the biggest-selling album by female a artist, for their albums R2K and Nina Live!. In October 2009, Nina became the first female artist to receive a Diamond certification. In 2010, Sharon Cuneta's Isn't It Romantic? reached Diamond status, making her the second female artist to receive such award.
Regine Velasquez's R2K reached above 480,000 in sales, but was not awarded with a Diamond certification by its own label.
