Regine Velasquez-Alcasid hasn’t been active in the acting department since she got pregnant and gave birth to her and Ogie Alcasid’s son, Nate.

 Regine Velasquez-Alcasid Soon, however, she will be seen again on the boob tube via the light romantic comedy “Poor Señorita” set to premiere on March 28. Regine is thankful GMA did not pressure her to go back to work after becoming a mother. “I’m really very grateful for their understanding that I have to take care of my son first. They waited for me to be ready for this kind of project,” she said. Though happy and excited to be acting again, the singer admitted, “I’m also feeling a little nervous kasi I haven’t done this in a while. But really, I’m very excited. Siyempre kasi the character is different. I think ’yun ’yung isa sa mga exciting na aabangan natin.” It’s the first time Direk Dominic Zapata is doing a comedy on primetime TV. At the press conference, he said, “This is a wholesome, feel-good show intended for family viewing, so we could hardly for the show to air.” On “Poor Señorita,” Regine plays Rita Villon, an heiress and successful owner of a perfume company who is also obsessive-compulsive, a perfectionist feared by employees. She never had a boyfriend and deep inside she longs for love and connection. When doctors told Rita she has cancer and has only three months to live, she gives away all her property. Eventually, however, she will find out that she’s been given the wrong diagnosis. Regine’s leading man in the show is Mikael Daez with whom she’ll have a kissing scene.
