Regine: Our Asia's Songbird

She is dubbed as the Asia's Songbird after winning the 1989 Asia Pacific Singing Contest in Hong Kong and is widely known for possessing a wide vocal range.

By 25, Regine became an International (Asian) Recording Artist. Regine became an international star and released three multi-platinum albums in Asia. She toured around the Philippines, and in various countries, captivating jam-packed crowds with her performances. She was also nominated and won in different award giving bodies in Asia. She was really a crowd favorite, in large part to her charm and endearing personality. "I work hard at what I do. I try to do better all the time," she says. Indeed, she is really the "Asia's Songbird."

This is to prove that Regine Velasquez deserved to be called as Asia's Songbird, she was the only Filipino to have concert outside the Philippines with NON-FILIPINO crowd, Filipino singers nowadays just made a concert outside the Philippines for Filipino abroad but Regine did it without Filipino audiences.

Here are some videos gathered in her Asian music scene.

After The Rain

This December, GMA Network leads the Filipinos in bringing a meaningful Christmas to the victims of the recent typhoons that hit the country with the telecast of a special musical documentary concert featuring the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. Titled After the Rain: A Hopeful Christmas with Regine, this TV special will be aired on December 13 on the Sunday Night Box-Office (SNBO) timeslot.

This year's GMA Christmas special pays homage to the Filipino spirit that has remained resilient despite the seemingly unending odds brought by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, which tremendously shattered lives and properties of many Filipinos.

After The Rain: A Hopeful Christmas with Regine is a two-hour musical-documentary featuring three heartwarming and inspiring Ondoy stories. The concert was attended by almost 800 victims from the typhoon-devastated cities and provinces such as Rizal, Laguna, Pasig, Marikina and Pangasinan. They were fetched from evacuation centers and transported to GMA Network's Studio 7 for a special dinner party before the show.

Inspiring words and admiration for their courage and resilience will be shared by GMA Network's primetime news anchors Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez together with Kapuso stars Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, and Marian Rivera.

The audience will be in for a heartwarming treat when the country's premiere artists led by Regine together with Jaya, Kuh Ledesma, Pops Fernandez, JayR, Kyla and La Diva plus the UP Concert Chorus perform as they unfold heartbreaking stories about losing loved ones, inspiring stories of unsung heroes and stories of love, survival, hope, happy endings and gratitude.
Completing the performers in this Christmas special are Eva Castillo, Frenchesca Farr, Julie Ann San Jose, Mae Flores, Moymoy Palaboy, Jude Matthew Sevilla, Shane Velasco, Yassi, Kris Angelica dela Cruz, Kiddiewockees, University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, Mandaluyong Children's Choir and the IIAF Development Group.

And at the end of the show, the audience will receive their special Christmas presents with the help of some sponsors and the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Don't miss the telecast of this special musical-documentary concert filled with hope and love. After The Rain: A Hopeful Christmas with Regine will air this Sunday, December 13, on GMA-7's Sunday Night Box Office (SNBO).

Regine On Quitting SOP! (2nd Attempt?)

Is Regine Really Quitting S.O.P.?
by Ricardo F. Lo

Regine Velasquez: What’s making her so unhappy?

BREAKING NEWS: Could it be true that Regine Velasquez is seriously thinking of quitting as co-host of the GMA noontime show S.O.P. which has been subtitled Fully Charged after a much-needed reformatting?

“She’s not happy with the show anymore,” said Funfare’s Kapuso DPA. “Basta, hindi na siya masaya.”

It’s not sure yet when Regine will disappear from the show. Who knows, tomorrow could be...knock on wood...her farewell appearance. Be alert for whatever “announcement” Regine will make on S.O.P. tomorrow. Or she might opt to simply keep mum.

First reported to be quitting the show was Jolina Magdangal who was doing it in sympathy with her manager, Perry Lansigan, who cut his ties with S.O.P. after 18 years as executive producer.

We all witnessed how two storms (ondoy and pepeng) lashed our country.
We are all aware how those two storms took so many lives in an instant.
People lost their homes, their belongings, their loved ones.

This Sunday, GMA brings you a breather as they present AFTER THE RAIN.
They brought together about 800 or so victims of ...Ondoy and Pepeng to celebrate life amidst adversity. They made them realize that despite the terrible storms that they have experience, they are still lucky to be alive. GMA has made those people feel the love and comfort that they so needed.

Stories of true love, faith and hope, and new beginnings will be showcased alongside heartfelt renditions.

There is life... AFTER THE RAIN. We can all start anew from where the storms have put and left us. Us Filipinos, with our courage and unity, will always always bounce back after every catastrophe.- REMZ
